Walmart’s New Home Office Stands Out for Design and Amenities
Walmart Inc. has called Bentonville home for more than 60 years. And while the company has grown and changed exponentially, along with the city, company leaders knew when they started the process of planning a new home office that the headquarters would stay in their hometown.
The new headquarters will bring all the home office departments together on a sprawling 350-acre space located east of downtown Bentonville. Along with its sheer size, the home office’s sustainable design is also a highlight.
“Our new home office in Bentonville is an innovative, sustainable hub designed with our associates and community in mind,” said Cindi Marsiglio, senior vice president for Walmart Corporate Real Estate. “Constructed with the largest application of mass timber in the U.S. and LEED Platinum office buildings, it’s more than a workplace. It’s a thriving, connected community with eateries, whole health and big nature in mind. It’s our commitment to our associates, community and the future.”
Half the home office is green space, with more than 750,000 native plants, including 5,000 planted trees. Other sustainable features of the office include dynamic glass that reduces energy use, drone-assisted window cleaning and autonomous lawn care.
Walmart broke ground in 2019 and officially opened the office in January, opening in phases throughout 2025
The goal for campus designers was to create a workplace where associates can thrive, which meant including more than just office and meeting spaces. The new office also features plenty of amenities to help build a community among associates and keep them active and healthy. Designing spaces with plenty of natural light was a main focus, and while there are several upgraded parking garages, associates also have access to 1,000 bike parking spots and a rentable bike fleet to encourage cycling to work.

Other associate amenities include:
-
Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness, a state-of-the-art fitness center featuring the latest cardio and weight machines, three indoor pools, indoor and outdoor pickleball and tennis courts, recovery rooms, classrooms for fitness classes, and unique spaces for associates to learn about improving overall health and nutrition
-
Little Squiggles Children’s Enrichment Center, a 73,000-square-foot facility that provides a safe and enriching environment for infants through pre-K. With the capacity to accommodate more than 500 children, Little Squiggles is the largest childcare offering in Northwest Arkansas.
-
8th & Plate, the associate food hall offering a choice of 12 eateries
Along with creating a productive and healthy work environment, the new Walmart Home Office also features amenities designed to draw in the entire community. These offerings include:
-
A host of street front retail shops such as: Bentonville Bicycle Company, Flyway Brewing, Gearhead Outfitters, The Gents Place Barbershop, Hatch Early Mood Food, Jamba Juice, Riserva Bar + Tapas, Swig, Walmart Pharmacy, Wright’s Barbecue and Yokozuna Sushi
-
Seven miles of walking and biking paths that link to the Razorback Greenway
-
AC Hotel by Marriott Bentonville, a new 153-room hotel that will be open to both visiting associates and travelers. The five-story hotel will also include a combined 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space on the main lobby floor as well as a rooftop lounge with indoor and outdoor seating.
Overall, Walmart leadership anticipates the new corporate home office to not only be a nod to the company’s past and a reflection of its values and mission but also an important step into the company’s future.
